Healthcare seldom offers a 50% sale on Tuesday. It doesn’t usually entice customers with seasonal rates, and it doesn’t run only while supplies last. It’s supposed to be available to everyone, all the time.
Here is something else it usually is not – a cause for celebration. Healthcare consumers are, at the risk of stating the obvious, often sick, injured, scared, or all three. Any kind of writing done for healthcare must always remember these parameters, must always respect the world in which these clients receive the message, and must always be created with a great deal of compassion.
Does that mean everything needs to be somber and subdued? Obstructed View’s answer to that is a definite (and defiant) NO. Offering an opportunity for improved healthcare IS something that should be approached with a celebratory mindset – a ray of hope should always shine through in the advertising.

Focus On: Hackley Sports Medicine
Everyone plays. Everyone should play. And everyone needs Hackley SportsMed in order to keep playing. Through an integrated advertising effort – led by radio – the message entertained and informed. And it worked. In the first year of the advertising, the total number of annual visits jumped more than 100% - from 20,428 to 41,745. This jump resulted in a market share increase of 21% (from 33% to 54%). Additional radio the following year helped move market share from 54% to 59%. The seven national and international awards for radio advertising were kind of nice, too.
